The worm tank experiment

We're learning about Ecology and in this experiment, we had to see what would happen when we filled two tanks with organic materials and then put worms in one of them. These instructions tell u how to do this;

  1. Take two glass tanks.

  2. Place a strip of masking tape on one side.

  3. Mark, on the tape, these three words; SOIL, COMPOST, LEAVES.

  4. Fill the tank with soil at the bottom.

  5. Before adding anything else, add about fifteen worms to the soil in the worm tank ONLY. Make sure to add a bit of water to the soil, or else the worms will dry up and the experiment won't work.

  6. Add the compost. There must be more compost than anything else.

  7. Add some leaves over the compost.

The picture in the right top corner is the worm tank. The one underneath this sentence is the anti-worm tank.

Dear Miss Gothique,

I'm sorry you were ill last week and missed so much school. I hope that your cough is completely gone and that you had a restful weekend.

After reading my comments below, please work on embedding the two food chain activities and questions Mr. T assigned last week and work on the questions.

It seems that maybe you hadn't finished your comments about the worm and anti-worm tanks below. If you have time after doing the food web activities perhaps you can add more information. What is your prediction about what will happen to the tanks?

Good luck, today.
